Meet the people behind Longhorn Dog Training – The Highest Quality Dog Training in Texas
John Van Olden
John created Canine Trade Group because he saw the need for an easier means of connecting dog owners across the country with certified, reliable in-home trainers. All trainers within the network are personally approved by John, and they are required to keep a certain level of education and professionalism in order to remain a part of the network. Now anyone can pick up the phone, call a single toll-free number, and hire an in-home trainer.
What makes John such a knowledgeable part of the canine behavior industry? His experience began as a canine-assisted military policeman, and his knowledge continued to grow and develop until he was presiding over a major training company (PAWSitive Solutions) and eventually starting his own (K-9 Advantage). He was also a founding member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. All of this culminates in over twenty years of dedication to the industry and over twenty years of learning just what it takes to create a successful training experience.
As the Operations Manager, Cristin is a valuable part of the Canine Trade Group team, but it’s her passion and dedication to the industry that makes her invaluable. Cristin’s training venture began with agility competition training rather than behavioral training, and it was a major success—among the many titles her dogs earned were two Master Agility Championships (MACH). But after getting a Border Collie, Sike! who developed fear aggression, anxiety, and resource guarding issues, she delved deeper into the world of behavioral training and found CTG’s techniques to be the most effective. Cristin can tell you firsthand why a CTG trainer would be the right choice for you.
Ever since she was a child, Nicole knew that she wanted dogs to be involved in her life and her career. She attended Ursinus College and graduated with a BS in Biology, aiming to work in the animal field. All throughout high school and college, Nicole worked various jobs involving animals. Later after graduating, she worked as a veterinary technician and as a handler at a dog daycare. It was here that her interest in dog behavior came to full fruition, and began seeking opportunities in the dog training industry.
Nicole found Canine Trade Group and joined their office staff, talking to owners about their dog problems and guiding them to the right training program that would address all their needs and training goals. She has studied the dog training course that Canine Trade Group’s trainers take, which has built her understanding and experience in complex canine behaviors.
She lives happily with her two dogs: her Pitbull mix named Willow and a Boston Terrier/Pug mix named Brooklyn.
